News Blast #6: Unit Plan and RCS Reminders

Responsive Coaching Session (RCS) to Support Growth in Domain 4! On Tuesday, 04.17 we posted a self-guided RCS (effectively an independent, online SBS) across Google Classroom. We strongly  encourage all PTs to make time to complete this RCS, as the Domain 4 benchmark for Gateway 3 is "effective." In your Google Classroom, you can access the RCS. Once completed simply "turn in" the assignment for review and feedback by your Lead Instructor. Please contact your Lead Instructor if you have any questions about this opportunity!  NYC Men Teach Orientation Event! News Blast #5! Exciting Opportunities!

Hello PTs! We hope you are having a productive week so far! This week's news blast contains information about some exciting opportunities, as well as some reminders about upcoming deliverables! Let's start with an exciting opportunity! NYC Men Teach Orientation Events! NYC Men Teach is a mayoral initiative started in 2015 to support male teachers of color who are first-year classroom teachers. If you have already been messaged by NYC Men Teach to confirm your participation by attending a confirmation orientation, you still have a chance to attend! A confirmation orientation will introduce you to the NYC Men Teach initiative and its supports of mentorship, professional development, and networking, connect with other NYC Men Teach teachers and community members, as well as allow you to officially confirm your participation. News Blast #4: Gateway 2!

Hello PTs! We hope you had a chance to enjoy some downtime yesterday during the snow day! This week's news blast will contain essential information about Gateway 2, as well as some updates on the syllabus and SBS. Gateway 2! Gateway 2 observations are being scheduled as we speak and begin today and go through 03.30. For Gateway 2 all Gateway 1 components are evaluated and 8 additional components are evaluated as well (see chart below). As with Gateway 1, FEMS will conduct your observation and debrief with you after your scheduled observation. During that debrief, the FEM will share evidence and scores for each rubric component, and then discuss next steps with you and your CC. Performance Improvement Plans If you were not provided with a Performance Improvement Plan after Gateway 1, but you do not meet 3 or more benchmarks in your Gateway 2 observation, you will be provided with a Performance Improvement Plan to help support your growth between now and Gateway

News Blast #3: Reminders!

We hope you are staying warm and dry in light of all the recent precipitation! This week you should be teaching at least one full day between Wednesday and Friday (at least 3-4 periods/day from coach’s lesson plans), l ead Threshold and Do Now every class period every day, and w orking with individuals/ small groups every day. Next week marks the beginning of teaching from your own original lesson plans! Please ensure that you are collaborating with your CC to set manageable deadlines for drafting and receiving feedback on your lessons! At this point all of you have completed your first observations (Gateway 01).  Congratulations! News Blast #2: Testing Reminders!

PT News Blast! Please remember that your deadline to take and receive scores for the GRE and your required New York State Certification exams for your subject area is April 29, 2018 . All PTs must take the EAS (Educating All Students) and the appropriate CST (Content Specialty Test) for their subject area. Please check the score report dates for your required tests, and be aware that in order to obtain scores by 4/29, some tests must be taken by March 4. This newsletter is designed to keep you informed of the most important information and upcoming "to-dos." These news blasts are all archived in the topic "PT News Blast" and are easily searchable so you can always refer to information from a prior newsletter.
