News Blast #2: Testing Reminders!

PT News Blast!

Please remember that your deadline to take and receive scores for the GRE and your required New York State Certification exams for your subject area is April 29, 2018. All PTs must take the EAS (Educating All Students) and the appropriate CST (Content Specialty Test) for their subject area. Please check the score report dates for your required tests, and be aware that in order to obtain scores by 4/29, some tests must be taken by March 4.

If you are unsure which CST you need to take, please refer to your subject area guides, sent to you in your initial offer letter, or linked below:

Special Education - elementary PTs: You should be registering to take the CST: Multi-Subject - Teachers of Childhood (Grades 1-6)

English as a New Language PTs: In order to obtain your Transitional B certificate and begin teaching in the fall, you must pass a CST in any content area. Please note that you do not have to pass the CST: ESOL in order to obtain your Transitional B certificate, but you will need to take it to obtain your initial certificate after you conclude your graduate program. While you are welcome to take the CST: ESOL to satisfy requirements for your Transitional B license, we encourage you to take the CST in the content area in which you feel most comfortable in order to ensure that you are able to pass and have your Transitional B issued. A list of all CSTs may be found here.

If you have not already done so, sign up to take your exams at http://www.nystce.nesinc.com/Home.aspx. Once you receive your score reports, please upload them into the appropriate Checklist items in your TT2 Checklist. Be sure to retain copies for your records and to share with your university.

While there is still plenty of time before you will receive information from your assigned university in order to begin matriculation, we want to remind you of two potentially time-consuming pieces that will be required for matriculation:

  1. Two official transcripts
  2. Immunization Records

You will need to hand in two official transcripts from your degree conferring undergraduate institution on day one of your university coursework. You will also be required to present proof of immunizations. While these requirements can vary from school to school and our partners have specific forms they will ask you to fill with your general practitioner, we’d advise beginning to track down your immunization records, particularly for MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) so that this process is streamlined when the time comes.

Gateway One Gateway One observations should be taking place this week or early next week. Please touch base with your CC and LC if this observation has not yet been scheduled. Check-In Survey #1 To those of you who have already completed the survey, thank you. Those who have not yet completed the survey, please make sure (as prescribed in your prework) that you complete the survey linked here before you attend SBS this evening.
